A Photographer's Life

This week I've really been into reading a photo book I purchased a while back, Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life 1990-2005. It is composed of about 200 photographs taken by Annie Leibovitz with only a few pages of text. I'll post a few photos from the book at the end.

This has to be one of my best purchases yet (at $59 it is the most I've ever spent on a book). Its like watching an evolutionary cycle of her work. She's photographed tons of celebrities such as Jim Carey, Jamie Foxx, Scarlet Johansson, and many others. Her style is very diverse, sometimes it seems to be kind of minimal, but in other photographs you can see the thought and effort behind it. It is truly amazing. (click 'read more' to continue)

Age ain't nothin' but a number.

Over the years, I've been told that I have numerous talents and, not to brag, I do. The main problem, however, I was afraid to do anything major with them. It was until I had a photo published in the newspaper that I broke out of that box. Where I currently live, we, literally, have CEOs that aren't even old enough to move out on their own yet. I don't consider young age to be a obstacle, but better yet, an opportunity. I've often been told that I have understanding beyond my years. I've designed numerous websites, programmed phones, done pretty much everything that your average sixteen year old doesn't normally do. (click 'read more' to continue)

Website & Spotlight

I am proud to announce that long anticipated website has finally been launched! You can check it out by clicking here. Not much is posted on the site as of now, but as time goes on I plan on improving it and updating it as much as possible. I would truly appreciate if everyone would spread this website around and tell as many people as you can about it. Who knows, you might even be on it some day (if I choose).

Anyways, a couple of days ago a few people that I know produced a video and the song is simply amazing. These guys know what they're here to do and they're doing it well. I'll link to the video below. Check it out people!

Mad-Endz Skate Team Auditions

In an earlier post I spoke about me and Mad-Endz (a local clothing startup) having major plans in the future. This is one that I'm proud to talk about. Recently, me and Bruce had some conversations and thought about starting up a skate team for Mad-Endz. To make a long story short, he agreed and its official. There will be a tryout in the near future and all skaters are invited. (click "read more" to continue)

What's the point of this?

Just to clear up any questions that might be coming my way very soon, I present to you this blog post! Most people have been asking "Dude, you're sixteen, what do you need a blog for?" Well, I will gladly point that out to you in this entire post. This blog is not being used as my stress release or to bore you with my day-to-day problems. I use it to attempt to educate those who are in the same field as I am, photography (or anything else that involves being creative). For my age, I know a lot and I'm learning very quickly, but it would be a waste to keep all of that information to myself. So I decided to share it the best way I know how: blogging! Creativity is not enough anymore

About a week ago I was reading the blog of photographer Chase Jarvis (linked on the side) and he wrote about creativity and how it is no longer enough in the industry of being creative for a living. I don't want to copy him word for word or even sound like him at all, so instead of linking his post I'll just type what it means in my own definition (although you should still check out his blog, pretty awesome guy).

The reason why I believe this is true is because you can see it in the industry today. Clients don't want someone to merely recreate something in a new, creative way, but they want them to do something different. They want the other points on the board: different, innovative, and brilliant. I'm not saying that you won't get anywhere if you don't use these things, but it would benefit you if you made these methods habits. For those of you who want to use these, I'll just simply define them for you below. (click "read more" to continue)

Business Opportunities/Future Projects

As most of you can see, I've finally decided to make the switch from Tumblr over to Blogspot. The reason behind this is that Tumblr became too much for me to handle and things were just becoming difficult. Plus, Blogspot shows up on Google's search engines better.

As far as other things go, I've been collaborating with a business partner of mine on some future projects as well as developing a huge summer project of my own. I can't really release details of this as of now, but in the future I'll try to give you all a more in depth look into how things are running.

Here's the video from that day to go along with another panorama! Hope you all enjoy!

Thanks everyone!
